Biography

MATT Matthew Nayman was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1984.

He began making films when he was 16 years old, teaching himself the basics of cinematography, editing and special effects. He read widely about the work of his special effects idols Willis O’Brien and Ray Harryhausen. Eventually, he became less interested in special effects and more absorbed by the overall craft of film making.

While completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production at York University, Matt worked as a freelance cinematographer for several independent filmmakers and production houses. He gained experience by directing and shooting a variety of films,as well as television pilots, music videos for up-and-coming bands and projects for Kodak Canada.

Matt is experienced in cinematography, editing, directing and visual effects. He is always looking for clients who can use his skills and hopes to continue working in Canada’s film industry as a cinematographer and director. His immediate goal is to create short films that balance a strong visual style with clear and concise visual story-telling. His ultimate goal is to work as a director or cinematographer on feature films.
